Thomas Paul Schirrmacher and Matthias Böhning met the US’ Presidents Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry
John Forbes Kerry (born 1943 in Aurora, Colorado) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. From February 1, 2013 to January 20, 2017, Kerry was the 68th Secretary of State of the United States. Previously, he served in the United States Senate for Massachusetts from 1985 and was Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee from 2009. In 2004, Kerry was defeated as the Democratic candidate in the U.S. presidential election by then incumbent George W. Bush. In President Joe Biden’s Cabinet, Kerry has been the President’s Special Envoy for Climate since January 20, 2021, the first person to hold this office.
His paternal ancestors came from Austrian Silesia, and his grandfather converted from Judaism to Catholicism, changing his surname from “Kohn” to “Kerry.” Kerry’s father was an U.S. diplomat. He is married in second marriage to the heiress of the ketchup manufacturer Henry John Heinz and millionaire Teresa Heinz.
