WEA to Hold Next General Assembly in Second Half of 2025
At its recent Senior Leadership Team meeting, the leadership of the World Evangelical Alliance confirmed that its next General Assembly would be held in the latter part of 2025, with exact date and location yet to be confirmed. The WEA GA will also put a greater emphasis on involving younger leaders to cast the vision for the unique role that Evangelical Alliances play at the national, regional and global levels.
“We have seen an increase in younger leaders’ participation at our last General Assembly in Jakarta in 2019, which was encouraging. Building further on this, we specifically encourage our 9 regional and 143 national Evangelical Alliances to strive to include at least one younger leader as part of their official delegation in 2025,”
said WEA Secretary General Bp Dr Thomas Schirrmacher, following the first in-person leadership team meeting where the next WEA GA featured as one of the most important agenda items.
“Today’s global evangelical movement is very diverse, but it is also increasingly young, and we hope that our next gathering will reflect this even more,” he said, and added, “we believe that the unique calling why the WEA was launched more than 175 years ago is as relevant today as ever. We need to bridge divides between cultures and within societies to bring greater unity to the body of Christ, and we want to work together across denominations, languages and age groups to be a stronger witness for Christ, just as Jesus expressed in his prayer in John 17.”
The WEA General Assembly will bring together its constituency of regional and national Alliances, Affiliate and Church Network members as well as other partners and invited guests.
More information will be provided in the near future.
