The Forgotten Vision of Robert Schuman
In his book, Jeff Fountain describes how, after the catastrophes of the 20th century, a new Europe emerged that is strongly influenced by Christian values such as human dignity and human rights. He emphasizes the role of the Gospel, which influenced European law, culture, and the peace order and provided impetus for European unification after World War II. Today, he sees Europe caught between its Christian roots and modern secularization and calls for a rediscovery of these values in order to secure identity and unity in the future.
