My teacher Heinrich Leonard Cox (1935–2016) died on September 6, 2016, a few weeks after his 81st birthday. Since far too few obituaries have appeared, I would like to remember him once again.

Visit on the occasion of the retirement of Patriarch Gregor III Laham in Beirut
After our visit of the President of Lebanon we met Patriarch Gregory III Laham in front of the President’s palace, as the Pope had just excepted his resignation at age 84 and he officially said farewell to the President. So we just drove to his second official residence (the first one is in Damascus).

Two Christians in Sudan are free – Thanks to the Efforts of the WEA
In December 2015, three Christians in the Sudan were arrested – a local pastor, one of his co-workers, and one Czech aid worker. The charges did not directly have to do with religion. Rather, they officially had to do with criminal actions against the state which could have promoted revolution. Nevertheless, what developed were worldwide protests.

My old friend Doug Coe died, leaving 82 progeny and hundreds of spiritual children behind
Two days before the National Prayer Breakfast (NPB) 2017 in Washington, the German delegation of MPs and there experts headed from the airport to ‘The Cedars’ in Arlington, where Douglas “Doug” Coe was living. For many years it had been a tradition, that he would speak to the German delegation directly after arrival in Washington Hilton, where the NPB takes place.
